ROSE COLORED GLASS

I am proud to present Michella Fanini and Robert McShan in Rose Colored Glass, a site-specific interactive installation at HCC Northline Gallery. Focusing on themes of memory and perception, the artists combine the mediums of painting, drawing, video and sculpture to examine the value of things we hold on to.

Both artists were my neighbors during Project Row Houses Summer Studio  Program in 2009,  since then I have taken interest in their works as they become more community involved. The artists take different and at times contrasting approaches to art making, from elaborate and meticulous realism to abstract  minimalism.  Join us for an artist reception this Thursday 24th from 7-9 pm at HCC Northline Gallery. 8001 Fulton Houston, Tx

Artist stipends were provided by Tina Kotrla and family.
Refreshments will be provided by HCC Northeast.

This one I will never capture,
he runs like a wild bull in the night,
he tramples my illusions,
he stabs my reasoning glands.

I keep my wounds ajar.

Within artist Emily Sloan interactive performance event "Funeral Party for The Living", I recited a poem dedicated to the relationship with my parents. The poem was re-edited throughout a 15 year period and finalized two days before the event. I read the first part with my eyes closed, the last with my eyes opened, then I cut my tie with a pair of scissors. Later the poem was thrown in a fire as part of the event's ritual.
