#notmethough, Curated by @CameronBlaylock and @StevenJThomson

If it doesn’t exist on the Internet, it doesn’t exist.”
-Kenneth Goldsmith; poet, founder of UbuWeb

The explosion of social media platforms has elicited a striking reaction among artists. This exhibition seeks to consolidate this discourse within the paradigm of the show title, #notmethough, a top trending topic in June 2010, ranked third below “#nowplaying” and “#JustinBieber.” Participants have been invited to comment on this title in any personal manner, be it the anonymity of the Internet, issues of privacy and exhibitionism, the notion of “the other,” statements of resistance and individualism, etc.

Exhibiting artists include:

• Melinda Ainsworth
• Man Bartlett
• Logan Sebastian Beck
• Bexar
• Douglas Cason As Zepeda
• Damien Hirst
• Jonatan Lopez
• Ray Ogar
• Brian Piana
• @t_h_e_y*
• @CorpzFlowrLois

Works will be presented in any format (paper, canvas, performance, projection, etc.), but all employ one of six social media modules:
• Twitter
• Facebook
• Flickr
• Tumblr
• YouTube/Vimeo
• Chatroulette

Exhibition Opening: June 18, 7 — 9:30 p.m., Curation Myth Ministries at Box 13 ArtSpace

Continuum's performances at BODYHEAT

Continuum’s, “Bodyheat” raised temperatures at Free Press Summerfest 2011 to record breaking levels. With Yoga Sutra, Roscoe Lopez taught participants to symbolically take their clothes off for all the world to see that they are no longer ashamed of their hot bodies.

Later, Ms Yet led participants in a session of Belly Yoga. By the time they were finished, temperatures had reached 105 degrees, the hottest ever recorded in Houston during the month of June. That wasn’t the only record broken.

MASSageORGY, conceived by Sway Youngston and Julia Wallace, gave the finger to the juice company that holds the official record for
the world’s largest massage chain.

OTHER LOVES (Performance)

Other Loves
Performed at Other  Loves: Celebrating Queer Artists
Documented by Jennifer Tyburczy
Dedicated to Other Loves not meant to be.

Christian:

When I saw him for the first time in his underwear,
I thought of falling in love,
and now he is covered in mud.

He awakened a feeling which I ignored lived in me.
Then I thought I heard a door slamming,
or my head banging against a wall,
and now he is covered in blood.

And I am afraid of admitting that I am afraid.

Milan:

This one I caught in the field,
he drank a different type of milk,
his body hair like threads of gold,
in the crevices of my teeth got caught.

His blood was a mild sauce,
his meat a tender as an infant's,
I cut into chunks and ate raw....
and now I am sickened.

Steve:

Away from his heat
my soul breaks into fragments,
away from his fragile kiss,
his skin, rough, juicy, delightful,
sliding slowly like sperm from a tense nerve.

Coming from him even pain would be enjoyable,
the punch of his fist would please me.

But his love is a campfire,
it would entirely consume the forest I am.

BODYHEAT by Continuum & Yoga Sutra Preview

For immediate release, embedding, posting and re-posting
on your social networks:

Continuum, a new performance art group that recently sprouted in H-Town is bringing to Free Press Summer Fest a series of performances centered around the body and its potential to heat things up.

Continuum's members Julia Wallace and Sway Youngston attempt to unofficially break a world record with their piece "MASSage Orgy." “Let's come together and release each others tensions,” says Youngston. While undermining the validity of the Guiness World Record, the artists will attempt to surpass it's stated record for a Massage Chain of 430 participants.

Roscoe Lopez (a man from another country) is sharing with us the power of Yoga Sutra. “Yoga Sutra is about recognizing how HOT we all are and about achieving unimaginable positions while having The Sex. We are forces of nature and are entitled to act like nature,” says Roscoe. Continuum's members pitched in to pay for Roscoe's plane ticket, so this is an opportunity you cannot miss to "Sexy It Up." (must bring Yoga mat or towel in case of accidental orgasm).

Continnum's special guest Y. E. Torres (ms. YET) will present a super sexy 30 minute class entitled "Belly Yoga." ms. YET has combined the benefits of traditional yoga poses with bellydance drills and postures to create a singular workout designed to increase flexibility, tone muscles, strengthen the body, open up the breath, and enhance your bellydance or yoga practice.

In addition, Continnum will do spontaneous performances amongst the sexy Houston crowd. Look for them on Sunday June 5th as the afternoon cools down and they heat things up at FREE PRESS SUMMER FEST.

Participating members for this event:

Julia Wallace, Jonatan Lopez, Sway Youngston, Bryce Galbraith, Taylor Ray, Eric Ling, Raindawg, Skippy Cooper  and Meghan Carey.

Continuum's local guest: Multidisciplinary artist and Belly Dancer ms. YET

Continuum's guest from another country: Roscoe Lopez

Special thanks to the coolest music festival in H-Town: FREE PRESS SUMMER FEST

WARNING,Yoga Sutra will cause the following permanent side effects: Falling in love with yourself, having sexy thoughts while at the gym, public displays of affection, involuntary prolonged erections, promiscuity and a strange European accent.
